Longwood Gardens

Longwood Gardens

On our most recent road trip through the beautiful Amish countryside in Lancaster County (PA), we made sure to set aside our last day on the road to revisit the gorgeous Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square (PA).

Italian Water Garden

Our last visit was almost four years ago and we haven't stopped thinking about going back since then. The origins of the vast 1000+ acre property as it sits today date back to the early 1700's and now hosts an extensive collection of indoor and outdoor gardens lush with native and exotic species, water features & historic buildings. Our tour included visits to the massive conservatory which includes the orchid room, tropical terrace, fern passage, Bonsai plantings (some dating back over 100 years) and so much more. The Italian Water Garden is a must visit and the wisteria at the moment is absolutely breathtaking! You can stroll the grounds for hours and hours and get lost in the beauty of the gardens, each pathway taking you to another amazing little spot!  A must visit if traveling through the area southwest of Philadelphia, near the Delaware, Maryland and New Jersey borders!
